MAFAC is proud to host the eighth annual Robert Schwan Memorial  Photography Competition and Exhibit with The Schwan Food Company.

This partnership with MAFAC and Schwan’s is a wonderful opportunity to share your photographic talent with our community.   Each year we look forward to the quality of photographs presented. We invite you to enter your favorite photographs and share your visions of this year’s themes.

This year the photography competition is open to our area young people, ages 11 to 17.  We are looking forward to exhibiting the great talent and creativity of our young people!

2009 Themes

Art on the Street
Take a walk down your main street or neighborhood avenue and share with us your photographs of the designs, art concepts, textures and glimpses of art you see there!

Composition
Composition is the arrangement of various elements in a creatively artistic manner to achieve a unified whole.  Pick any subject matter and show us your best compositions!

Important Dates
Pre-Registration Deadline - June 30, 2009 Form and waiver completed and postmarked/delivered no later than June 30 by 4:30 pm

Photo Entries (ready to hang) submitted no later than July 17, 2009

Judging - August 4, 2009 prior to exhibit opening

Exhibit Opens - August 4, 2009 - 1 PM

Exhibit Reception & Awards Presentations - Sun, August 23 - 2:30 pm

Exhibit Closes - September 12, 2009

Pick up Entries - On/After September 12, 2009. Photos not picked up by November 1, 2009 become the property of MAFAC.

Entry Rules

¨ Entry Fee - $5 per photograph
¨ Traditional black/white or color film must be entered in the Non-Manipulated category.
¨ Photos in the Non-Manipulated category may be adjusted to eliminate red-eye, improve lighting, boost color or correct  focus or blurs. Photos with other editing adjustments should be entered in the Manipulated category.
¨ Entrants in the Manipulated category are encouraged to use tools and special effects on digital photos such as Photoshop applications.

¨ Size restrictions:
Photo image—minimum 8"x10" or 80 sq inches
Finished work-maximum 11"x13” or 143 sq 
inches including matting.
¨ Photos must be matted, not framed. Matting must be black, cream or white
¨ Each photographer agrees to follow the rules and guidelines as outlined.
¨ Photographers must be 11 to 17 years of age.
¨ All items must be labeled on the back with photographer's name, address and photograph title and category.
¨ Photography entries must be pre-registered.
¨ Photographs must be left up during the entire Exhibit.
¨ Each photographer will complete MAFAC Waiver Form. Photos may be offered for sale by completing MAFAC Artist Consignment Agreement.
¨ MAFAC assumes no liability for photos
